MyPay not working? Fixes for login, loading and LES problems
When MyPay (DFAS, mypay.dfas.mil) won't cooperate, the cause is almost always one of four things: the site itself, your browser, your login method, or your account. Work through them in order.
1. Make sure you're on the real site
- Type
mypay.dfas.milyourself. Search results and app stores show unrelated "mypay" products that are not DFAS.
2. Check whether MyPay itself is down
- Look for maintenance or outage notices on the MyPay homepage and the DFAS MyPay page. If there's a scheduled outage, waiting is the only fix.
- Around payday and when tax forms post, the site can be slow; try again off-peak.
3. Rule out your browser
- Try a different supported browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari).
- Clear cache and cookies for the site, or use a private window.
- Turn off a VPN or ad/script blockers for the site and retry.
4. Fix the login method you use
- CAC: if there's no certificate or PIN prompt, the problem is your reader or DoD certificates, not MyPay. See the CAC reader guide (Mac: CAC on Mac) and the certificate guide.
- Login.gov / username and password: use the recovery options shown on the MyPay login page. Verification codes go to the contact info on file, so check spam and wait a few minutes before requesting another.
5. Account problems only DFAS can fix
- Locked accounts, an outdated email on file you can't change, or a missing LES after you've logged in should go to DFAS customer support through the contact options on the official DFAS site.
