VA disability pay chart 2027: coming soon (3.6% COLA announced)
Status as of Oct 15, 2026: VA has not published its 2027 disability compensation rate tables. We'll post VA's official table here as soon as it's out. Until then, there's no dollar table on this page, because any "2027 VA pay chart" you see today is somebody's estimate, not VA's numbers.
What's official so far
- The COLA is 3.6%. Social Security announced a 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment for 2027 on Oct. 14, 2026 (SSA press release).
- VA follows Social Security. VA's rates page says VA is "required by law to match the percentage of cost-of-living adjustments made to Social Security benefits" (VA: current rates).
- Today's rates are still the 2026 rates, effective Dec. 1, 2025. See our 2026 VA disability pay chart, copied from VA.
When will VA publish the 2027 chart?
VA hasn't announced a date. Here's what last year looked like, from VA's own page: the 2026 rates took effect Dec. 1, 2025, and VA's rates page was last updated Dec. 2, 2025. If 2027 follows the same pattern, expect new rates effective Dec. 1, 2026, with the official tables posted around then. That's a pattern, not a promise; we'll update this page the day VA posts.
When does the raise hit your bank account? VA pays each month's benefit at the start of the next month. So if the new rates take effect Dec. 1, the first payment at the new rate would be the one for December, paid around the turn of the year.
Why we don't post a "projected" table
A projection just multiplies the 2026 numbers by 1.036. VA sets its own rounding and publishes its own amounts, and the add-on amounts for children and Aid and Attendance are set separately. We'd rather show you the real table a few weeks later than a guess now.
What to do while you wait
- Check your combined rating with the VA math calculator and your rating on VA.gov.
- Make sure your dependents are on your award (rated 30%+). Late dependents can cost months of back pay; see VA back pay and effective dates.
- Got worse? A claim for an increase is a separate process from the COLA. The COLA raises the rate for your rating; it doesn't change the rating.
- Bookmark this page. When VA publishes, the official 2027 table goes here.
